When to request a plant audit
Falling flow, drifting conductivity, more frequent cleaning or shutdowns with no established cause justify a structured diagnosis. An audit can also prepare a capacity increase, a change in raw water or the recovery of a plant whose documentation is no longer current.
The first discussion defines the observed issue, the equipment concerned and the period to review. A single alarm is not enough to identify a component. Trends, previous interventions and production conditions help distinguish a one-off incident from a lasting drift.
Review process and control together
The review covers the chain relevant to the issue: pretreatment, filtration, membranes, dosing, disinfection, tanks, pumps and discharges. It includes instruments, alarm thresholds, automated sequences, bypasses and manual operator actions.
An inconsistent reading may come from the process, the sensor, its calibration or the logic using it. The diagnosis compares displayed values with checks available on site. This avoids replacing a membrane, pump or probe before the symptom has been linked to a sufficiently supported cause.
Prepare data before the visit
Process drawings, water analyses, alarm histories, flow and pressure trends, maintenance reports and cleaning records shorten the investigation. Changes in consumables, setpoints, production or water supply are dated where known.
A missing history does not prevent the assignment. It changes the work plan. The audit may then recommend a measurement campaign, a metrology check or temporary monitoring points before reaching a conclusion on plant performance.
Receive an actionable plan
The report separates findings, open hypotheses and proposed actions. It ranks immediate checks, adjustments, maintenance, spare-parts needs, trials and investment studies. Each action identifies the data needed to verify its effect.
Vanguard Waters offers the audit as a one-off assignment or as the first step in a maintenance plan. The scope can cover process, automation, instrumentation and supervision. Any resulting work is decided separately after the diagnosis.
Frequently asked questions
Does an audit require a maintenance contract?+
No. The audit can be ordered as a one-off assignment. The report then helps decide whether a contract, targeted intervention or measurement campaign is appropriate.
Can you audit equipment from another manufacturer?+
Yes. Scoping first checks available documentation, automation access and the parts concerned. The scope is confirmed before the visit.
Which documents should we provide?+
Available process drawings, water analyses, alarm histories, operating trends, maintenance reports and cleaning records provide a useful starting point.
