Train on the plant that operators actually run

Useful training starts from the site process, its screens, procedures and known incidents. The programme is prepared with the operations manager. It accounts for participant experience, roles and the tasks they perform independently.

Generic documents provide technical foundations. Exercises use the circuits, control points, alarms and maintenance operations of the plant concerned. Differences between written procedures and observed practices are identified before training material is changed.

Cover operation, quality and routine maintenance

The programme can cover water treatment principles, start-up and shutdown, quality checks, CIP procedures, trend reading, alarm response and authorised settings. The exact content depends on the equipment and site responsibilities.

Training distinguishes what an operator can check, what belongs to maintenance and what requires a specialist. This boundary prevents an alarm response from bypassing a safeguard or concealing process drift.

Work through site situations

Sequences are reviewed on the control screens and, where conditions allow, on the plant. Participants follow a measurement from sensor to display, identify what to record and apply the procedure for a defined deviation.

Exercises may cover falling flow, conductivity drift, incomplete rinsing, dosing faults or an instrument alarm. The aim is a repeatable response: observe, record, check authorised conditions and escalate with the right data.

Define assessment and follow-up in the proposal

Our partner ICE's service catalogue provides for a programme adapted with the customer and states that operators are certified on completion. For each assignment, the scope, prerequisites, assessment criteria and document issued are defined in the proposal.

Vanguard Waters coordinates the assignment in French-speaking Switzerland with the site and process team. A prior visit or audit can be added when procedures, settings or plant condition need to be checked before training.

Frequently asked questions

Does training take place on site?+

Yes, where the scope allows. The programme can combine technical instruction, screen reading, procedure review and exercises on the plant.

Which subjects can be covered?+

Treatment procedures, CIP, quality checks, alarms, problem solving, routine maintenance and authorised settings, depending on the plant.

Is a plant audit required before training?+

Not systematically. A prior visit or audit is proposed if procedures, settings or the actual condition of the plant first need to be clarified.
